It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Persona title on Xbox, and even then it was only an arena fighter back on the Xbox 360 under the name of Persona 4: Arena. Since then we’ve watched Persona 5 get two releases, witnessed various spin-off games, and seen tons of critical acclaim. With the series’ 25th anniversary approaching, developer Atlus has plans to reveal several projects. Could we finally be getting a new entry on Xbox?
A translated page from the official site shows that to mark the 25th anniversary, seven projects will be unveiled – the first coming this September. The reveals are expected to run until autumn 2022, and while not every project will be a game announcement, we’re hoping to hear of a new entry for Xbox, or at least a Persona 5 port.
“In 2021, the “Persona” series exceeded the cumulative worldwide sales of 15 million units. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and gratitude to all those who have watched over and supported us for a long time. And in September, the “Persona” series will finally celebrate its 25th anniversary. With gratitude to all of you, we are preparing a lot of fun as PERSONA 25th Anniversary YEAR for about one year from September 2021 this year to autumn 2022 next year.”
There have been talks of Persona 5 coming to Xbox for some time, but nothing concrete has surfaced. It may just be a case of wishful thinking, or maybe there’s something bubbling away. Considering the great relationship Xbox has built with SEGA bringing the Yakuza series to Xbox Game Pass, it’s not out of the realms of possibility.
A questionnaire earlier this year asked whether fans would like to see more Persona games ported to other consoles, with Xbox being included in the batch (thanks, Nintendo Life). Taking everything into consideration, it would actually be more surprising if Persona didn’t eventually end up on Xbox, but we’ll have to wait and see.
