Update #3: According to a new email from Microsoft Rewards Support (shared by Reddit user u/HighBoltage08), the reason why the 10K Gamerscore challenge isn’t appearing for some users is that Microsoft has introduced “promotional segregation” for some of its promotions. “We are introducing promotional segregation in which different sets of promotions are being offered to different sets of users,” the email reads.
“The reason why you don’t see it on your account is because you are not part of the group of users to which this particular promotion is being offered to. In the same manner that some Microsoft Rewards users will not be a part of the promotion that you will have access to. This simply means a different promotion may be in store for you instead.”
Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn’t say who fits what criteria for a promotion like this one. Users who have previously completed 10K challenges are being shown May’s Gamerscore challenge in the Rewards app, while others who have never completed one are seemingly being excluded. It’s also possible that users could be selected at random for this challenge with participation in previous 10K challenges being irrelevant.
Update #2: This Challenge does not currently seem to be available to everyone. Aside from it already being only available in certain regions, Game Pass Ultimate membership, previous Rewards claims, current Rewards Points totals, and general activity do not seem to be factors in this. We’re investigating further and will update again as soon as we know more. In the meantime, keep an eye on the Rewards app, and remember to activate the punchcard if and when you do see it in order to start earning some extra points!
Update: We can confirm that Gamerscore earned in Windows 10 and backwards and non-backwards compatible Xbox 360 games counts towards the overall total despite the punchcard stating that only achievements unlocked in Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S games are eligible.
