Lineup Confirmed, Release Date, Free Games, Predictions, & What to Expect

We’re still waiting on May 2021’s Games With Gold and the announcement is literally a day away. We still don’t know what to expect, with leaks unusual quiet, but here’s everything you need to know going into the reveal.

LATEST – May 2021 Lineup Revealed

The Games With Gold lineup for May 2021 has been revealed, a day earlier than usual.

Major Nelson on Twitter has revealed the lineup via the official image, as he usually does each month.

The list and the dates are:

  • Armello – May 1-15
  • Dungeon 3 – May 16-31
  • LEGO Batman – May 1-15 (Xbox 360)
  • Tropico 4 – May 16-31 (Xbox 360)

You will be able to pick up the first two games from this coming Saturday.

Major Nelson’s Reveal Date

Games With Gold games are typically revealed on the last Tuesday of the month, which means we can expect to see them announced on Tuesday, April 27th.

Like last month, we’re expecting Xbox’s Major Nelson to drop the news via Twitter at around 11:00 EST / 16:00 BST.

This isn’t always regimented, but for the last couple of months, it’s been at the same time. For example…

What To Expect

Each month Microsoft gives away at least four games, sometimes five, to Games With Gold or Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.

These typically include one Xbox One game, two Xbox 360 games, and one original Xbox game.

Two games are released on the 1st of the month, with one running throughout the entire month and the second only being available until the 15th.

Then on the 16th, we see two more games added, with one running until the end of the month and the other until the 15th of the following month.

This can be quite confusing at times as you have to remember twice a month to claim the games.

Games With Gold Predictions

With the release of Resident Evil Village on May 7th, now would be a great time to see the previous entry come to Games With Gold, giving players a chance to revisit the events leading up to the new game.

With the series switching from the third-person perspective gameplay to the first-person perspective, this could help players get familiarized with the new style of Resident Evil before jumping into RE Village.

As for the Xbox 360 titles, these are always absolute classics. That’s why we’ve got a handful of titles for you. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, SSX, Ninja Gaiden 2, Brink, Monday Night Combat… These are all titles that have been thrown around in conversation and we think all of them are solid picks for the Games With Gold May 2021 Xbox 360 predictions line-up.

Game Pass

It has been quite a successful month for Xbox and its Game Pass service.

April 1st saw the release of the highly anticipated Outriders, which launched on Xbox Game Pass, as well as the release of MLB: The Show 21 at launch, also the first time the series has appeared on a non-PlayStation console.

With a large amount of hype surrounding Game Pass right now, it would make sense for Microsoft to have a good showing this month with Games With Gold to really drive people towards the Xbox ecosystem.

FPS Boost

Earlier this week saw an FPS boost come to over 20 games, with 13 of those now playable at 120fps if your TV/monitor allows for it.

It is great to see Microsoft focused on not only backwards compatibility, but actively looking to improve the experience of those older titles too.

Here are the list of games that saw an FPS boost on Xbox Series X|S this week.

Battlefield 1 – 120fps (Xbox Series X)

  • Battlefield 4 – 120fps (Xbox Series X|S)
  • Battlefield V – 120fps (Xbox Series X)
