Ready to kick off the New Year? Check out the list of games coming to Xbox Series X and S in January 2021. Which will you be playing?
Admittedly, the launch of the Xbox Series X and S was somewhat tempered with the delay of Halo Infinite. Still, tons of gamers flocked to Microsoft’s next-gen console, even without the tentpole title. So while we wait for what will arguably be the console’s biggest game this year, here the games you can play in January 2021:
It’s not many but the games that are releasing for Xbox Series X and S sure do look pretty darn good. Hitman 3 will conclude the World of Assassination trilogy that started in 2016, while Ride 4 will offer some authentic motorbike racing.
The Medium is probably the game I’m most excited about. Developed by Bloober Team, The Medium is a psychological horror in which you play as Marianne, a medium who can travel into the spirit realm — so you’ll be experiencing the world in two realities at a time. The Medium has some serious talent associated with it, including composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) and voice actor Troy Baker as the primary antagonist.
As I mentioned, there’s not a whole lot being released exclusively for the Xbox Series X|S. There are still quite a few games coming to Xbox One in January, including Five Nights at Freddy’s: Core Collection (Jan. 12), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition (Jan. 14), The Yakuza Remastered Collection (Jan. 28) and more. But with Microsoft’s approach to next-gen, a lot of these Xbox One games are playable on the Xbox Series X|S as well. And, in some cases, these games will even see a boost in performance thanks to the improved hardware.
If you aren’t interested in buying any of these new releases, Microsoft will also be giving away four free games next month. Little Nightmares, Dead Rising, King of Fighters XIII and Breakdown will all be free for Games with Gold members next month and all four are playable on Xbox Series X|S.
