PES 2022 Unreal Engine demo released for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One

Konami has today released an early demo for PES 2022, catching everyone by surprise, on Lionel Messi’s 34th Birthday.

The PES 2022 demo, with Konami are officially calling ‘New Football Game’ in what is a an ‘Online Performance Test’, is built in Unreal Engine, which PES will switch to this year.

The ‘New Football Game’ PES 2022 demo is available to download now on both next-gen and current-gen platforms including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One, with the demo available to access up until Thursday, July 8, 2021 00:00 BST.

But Konami are insisting that this is a very early version of the game. Konami has stated that the sole purpose of the release is to check the quality of online matchmaking and connection to the servers

Konami have also been very clear that all aspects of the game, including gameplay mechanics, balancing, animations and graphics are all under development, have already been improved and will continue to be improved before the official launch.

There are four playable teams in the PES 2022 demo, which are Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Barcelona.

There is also only one playable mode on the PES 2022 demo, with players able to face each other in online 1v1 games.

The PES 2022 demo also allows cross-generation play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and cross-gen multiplayer between Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

How to Participate: All you need to do is go to your console’s official store, download “New Football Game Online Performance Test” and launch the game. You do not need to pre-register to participate in this test.

  • Only a limited number of teams are available to play during this test. Each team has a squad of 22 players, chosen according to how many matches they appeared in and total match playtime.
  • You do not need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to participate in online multiplayer games for this test.
  • Cross-generation play between PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 is available.
  • Cross-gen Multiplayer between Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is available.
  • This game is currently under development, so unexpected errors, such as crashes, may occur.
  • We may need to perform unscheduled maintenance during the test.
  • In order to participate in the test, you must agree to the Terms of Use inside the game.
  • Game data from this test cannot be carried over to the official launch version.
  • You will not be able to play the beta test version of this game once the test period has ended.

Konami’s current release, eFootball PES 2021 Season Update, isn’t a brand new version of the game. Konami decided to simply release a very similar version of last year’s eFootball PES 2020 game, but with updated transfers, kits and more, with a brand new game expected to be released later this year.

Konami released a free update for PES 2021 on June 4 which features an official UEFA EURO 2020 competition in Cup Mode, as well as all 55 national teams participating in the tournament, with the latest kits and squads included.

There are also several PES 2021 legends that players can use, with legends like Andrea Pirlo, Bryan Robson, Iker Casillas, Dennis Bergkamp, Dennis Irwin, Luis Figo, Lothar Matthaus, Fernando Morientes, Pavel Nedved, Carlos Puyol, Ruud Gullit, Roy Keane and many more all available.

Both Wembley Stadium and Saint Petersburg Stadium were also included in the update, as was the official EURO 2020 ball and trophy.
