PS5-Exclusive Returnal Download Size Revealed, Pre-Load Live Now

Sony’s latest PS5 exclusive Returnal has an April 30 release date and the pre-load for the game is live now. What’s more is, the Returnal PS5 download size is 56GB. Granted it’s far from the largest file size we’ve seen but it will definitely put a dent in your data cap. This is before any potential day one patches or updates.

And if you prefer it on disc, Returnal’s physical release is available at online retailers like Games the Shop, Amazon India, and Mcube Games. It is priced at Rs. 4,999 across all stores. At the time of filing this story IGN India is given to understand that the physical release of the game is set for April 30 as well. However due to ongoing coronavirus lockdown restrictions, we can’t rule out the possibility of a delay in parts of the country.

The digital edition, sporting the same price tag, is available for pre-order and pre-load on the PlayStation Store.

While there don’t seem to be any stores with a Deluxe Edition listing in India for the physical release of Returnal, the PlayStation Store does have the Digital Deluxe Edition, priced at Rs. 5,599. Here’s what you will get in Returnal’s Digital Deluxe Edition:

  • Returnal
  • Electropylon Driver weapon
  • Hollowseeker weapon
  • 1 Reflex Stimulant consumable
  • 1 Pulsating Mass artefact
  • 1 Adrenaline Booster
  • Digital soundtrack
  • 2 in-game suits for Selene

Developed by Housemarque—a studio known for arcade-styled bullet hell games like Resogun and Matterfall—Returnal is a third-person roguelike game where every death resets the world and the player’s progress. Protagonist Selene is quite aware of the strange loop she’s stuck in, and has to figure out how to get out.

On the gameplay side of things, Returnal is a fast-paced third person shooter that takes quite a few cues from the studio’s earlier works through the bullet hell-styled patterns enemies use with their attacks.
