The PS5 update 21.01-03.10.00 patch notes confirmed that it simply ‘improves system performance.’ It weighs in at 902MB.
This is probably going to be very familiar to anyone who has read up on the patch notes for various PS4 updates, as they did the exact same thing over the course of many months of updates.
