Resident Evil Village demo gets a time extension for everyone

If you’re worried you’ll miss your chance to play the Resident Evil Village demo, Capcom has announced it’ll be available for an extra week.

Back in the Xbox 360 era, Microsoft mandated that every new game should have a playable demo. That was until publishers discovered that playing a demo actually made most people less likely to buy the game.

That was in part because when everything had a demo it almost became a chore to get through them all and so nowadays playable demos and betas are much more limited, although in the case of Resident Evil Village a bit too limited.

The dizzying amount of rules and restrictions surrounding the recent PlayStation 5 exclusive demos meant a lot of people ended up missing them but Capcom has promised that won’t be an issue for the multiformat demo.

Instead of being a PlayStation 5 exclusive, this week’s demo will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Steam, and even Stadia.
You’ll have exactly one hour to explore a portion of the game’s village and Castle Dimitrescu, starting from 1am BST on Sunday, May 2.

But where previously the demo was only meant to be available for a single day it’ll now stay online until 1am BST on May 10.

That’s after the launch of the game itself, which suggests that Capcom is pretty confident in the quality of the game and the demo’s ability to impress players.

The combined demo is assumed to be the same content as in the two separate PlayStation ones, so you can read about the village one here and the castle one here.

Resident Evil Village will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Stadia on May 7.
